He Only Needs- ONE DAY

I imagine that you have been through a lot, year in year out and it looks like nothing is changing, instead things seem to be getting worse, and even when it looks like you've finally caught something that looks like a break, somehow life happens and you lose it all. Sometimes the bad things that happen to you may be your fault, you made a mistake, but other times it wasn't even your fault at all, it was as a result of someone else's bad decision, and you are left to suffer the consequences alone. The hurt and the pain, piercing through your chest as you face each day because you are constantly reminded of how unfair it was. The shame you face because you are reminded that you should have gone farther in life by now. Then you find yourself looking back to see what you could have done to prevent the problems that led you to where you are, you come up with brilliant solutions and attempt to fix things by yourself (as Olivia Pope that you is na) but it seems out of your control, things are getting worse and you feel you are on a slippery slope without a rope. Now what do you do? It's good to reflect on past events and learn from the mistakes but remember to forget what lies behind because God is about to do something brand new. Isaiah 43:19.

I had the privilege of settling down to read the story of Joseph in the bible and I have been in awe ever since, I used to hear Pastors preach about Joseph but I never really thoroughly understood it the way I did when I picked up my bible to read it myself, I suggest you do too, you will find the scriptures below this post. Joseph's story is a practical example of how God works really, how even though many things seem to be going wrong, God can use it for your good and He only needs ONE DAY to turn things around and set you up for life.
This guy named Joseph went through a lot sha, he was just 17 years old when he started tending sheep with his brothers. Then these brothers sold him as a slave to an Egyptian named Potiphar  simply because he was loved by his father and they were jealous, imagine such evil? Now as God may have it, luckily Potiphar was an officer of Pharaoh- the king of Egypt, he was also the captain of Pharaoh's guards, in other words, in today's language "he is a big man" and Joseph found favour in his sight. After serving as a common slave for a while, it looked like Joseph finally caught a break, he got promoted and Potiphar made him his personal attendant, in charge of all that he owned and everything was finally going so well. Until, the devil decided to use Potiphar's wife to accuse innocent Joseph of attempted rape, haaa!!! and he lost EVERYTHING and was thrown in jail for years over something he didn't even do. This life ehn...

But alas, my God is not asleep, the devil thought he finally ended Joseph but God was busy working out everything for Joseph's good. In prison Joseph found favour in the sight of the prison wardens because God was with him and they placed everything in the prison under Joseph's authority. One day Pharaoh the king of Egypt was angry with two of his officers- the Chief cup bearer and the Chief baker and he threw them in prison, same prison Joseph was in and the captain of the guard in the prison assigned Joseph to them and he became their personal attendant. That's how they both had dreams one day, and Joseph was able to interprete it for them and it came to pass just as Joseph interpreted- one was killed (the chief baker), the other was spared (the chief cup bearer). Joseph told the one that was going to be spared not to forget him when he gets out o... but ofcourse trust humans na, people will always be people, the guy forgot Joseph as soon as he was released from prison. That's why you should never put your trust in any man but God alone. Only God saves, he's the God of justice, if you commit everything you do to Him, you will succeed. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn and the justice of your cause will shine like the noon day sun. Psalm 37:5-6, Proverbs 16:3.
Now see this, two years later, Pharaoh-the king had a horrible dream, he was terrified and was so troubled the next day (God is going to put you on someone's mind and they will not have peace until they favour you). Pharaoh summoned all the magicians in Egypt but none of them could interprete the dream. That's how that Chief cup bearer that Joseph interpreted dream for finally remembered him, like chai... I don mess up. Sir Pharaoh no vex o, I know a guy wey fit interprete this dream, he been interprete my dream two years ago but chai I forget the guy. So Pharaoh sent for Joseph immediately!!! My guy Joseph interpreted the dreams- 7 years of abundance and 7 years of famine will come upon Egypt, so Pharaoh needs to appoint overseers who would be in charge of gathering food during the 7 years of abundance, so that there will be plenty to eat during the 7 years of famine.

Pharaoh was like.. who else can he appoint as overseer other than Joseph who has the Spirit of God upon him, who is intelligent and wise? Instantly! He put Joseph in charge of all his house, and that all the people will obey his commands. Not only that, he put Joseph in charge of ALL the land of Egypt- meaning Joseph was literally second in command to Pharaoh, which means even his former master- Potiphar submits to Joseph's authority, yepa! Look at God... Pharaoh said "I am Pharaoh but without your permission no one will be able to raise his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt". That same day, Pharaoh removed his signet ring from his hand and put it on Joseph's hand, clothed him with fine linen garments and placed a gold chain around his neck, then gave him a chariot.
So wait... in just ONE DAY, Joseph got double promotion, changed his wardrobe & accessories and got a car but most importantly He walked into His purpose!!! (you will not need to hustle aimlessly this year, God will guide your path and you will seamlessly walk into your purpose! Just be alert, be present). Joseph was 30 years old when he entered into his service to Pharaoh, can you see how long Joseph had to wait on God? He started tending sheep with his brothers at age 17, so I would make a rough guess and say he was sold into slavery between the age of 17-20years old. How long have you been waiting on God that you are already tired? Now, as if all that blessings was not enough, Pharaoh gave Him a wife too, chai this is what I call FULL REWARD plus jara...
The wife bore him two sons, first born- Manasseh (meaning- God has made me forget all my hardship in my father's house). Second born- Ephraim (meaning- God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction).

You see, your attitude this year should be- "I don't care how many days out of the 365 Days of 2018 that the devil chooses to torment me, because I know that all my God needs to turn things around for me is just ONE DAY. When my God shows up, none of all that will even matter because He will make me forget all my hardship, it will be as though the mistake never even happened. He will restore, promote, compensate me and give me double for my trouble, He will completely wipe my tears away". Even if you brought the hardship on yourself, as long as you are repentant, God will surely turn it to work out for your good.

If it was going to be easy God would not have said in Hebrews 10: 35-36 that you need "Patient Endurance" to continue doing His will. If the devil wouldn't try to play tricks on your mind and make you doubt God, God wouldn't have warned you saying "Do not lose your confidence". So you must choose to be confident, even if what you are seeing now completely contradicts God's promises to you, even when it looks like there's no way out and God's hand seems invisible. You should say- I will be confident, I will be patient, I will endure, I will persevere, I will not lose my peace, I will be joyful and I will completely rest in God's promises because He is not a man that He should lie and He only needs ONE DAY! Thank you Jesus...
Refer to Genesis chapters 39-41 for Joseph's story.
