On my previous post, we talked about how God uses people around you as sandpapers to smoothen the rough edges around you (your imperfections). And how on your journey to change, most times you get to encounter a lot of people who are quick to judge you and you can get depressed if you focus on what people say. Depression is a tactic of the enemy to distract you from focusing on what really matters and rob you of your blessings. What really matters is the fact that God loves you just the way you are, you are the apple of God's eyes and he is not going to love you any less whether you work on your imperfections or not. You are also a qualified candidate of Heaven if you believe in Jesus and have received him as your Lord and Saviour- John 3:16. You don't need to have perfect character to make heaven, it is God who perfects his good work he started in you when you received Christ- Philippians 1:6.
Heaven is sure for all believers regardless of mistakes you make even after receiving Jesus, but the bad thing is, on this earth, you are not free from the consequences of your actions, which brings me to my next point- It had to happen. I find that all things are working for my good including my mistakes, there were somethings I wasn't able to thoroughly deal with until a major event happened due to a bad choice I made, that forced me to change and helped me develop a strong character in that area cos now every time I remember what happened when I made such bad choice, I RUN from making them again. That is why now I have a different way I see trials and temptations, they don't feel good at first but I rejoice at the benefits. You will only get the benefits if you view them from a positive perspective and learn the lessons.
Jesus came so we can have and enjoy life abundantly but in order to fully enjoy this abundant life, you may need to adjust your attitude otherwise you will keep battling with things like strife and that's not enjoying life. There are certain levels of blessings you may not be able to access because of a bad attitude or mindset. And even if you get the blessings, with a negative mindset or attitude, you will not be able to sustain them, you will use your own hand to destroy your blessings. So most times before God takes you to the next level of your blessings, he will first ensure you have the right character build up to sustain you there and how can you build character if you don't face trials? It had to happen.
God is not being wicked or slow when he withholds certain blessings from you, funny most times we think we are waiting on God but he is actually waiting on us to level up. He will protect you from destroying your blessing and he will keep guiding you on the things you should work on, hence the reason for strategically planting sandpapers around you. The more frustrating it gets, the closer you are to your breakthrough. So count it all joy cos your blessing is on the way.
The bad news is, you have issues, issues that built up from your childhood experiences, mindset you grew up with (a.k.a strongholds), your environment, influences etc. But the good news is, you know your issues now and you are willing to work on them.
Do you remember a time when before you had a real relationship with God, lots of people around you tried to point out your issues and you just thought they were all crazy because you strongly believed you were perfect and everyone else had a problem not you. But then, you came closer to God and he began to reveal YOU to you, he breaks you, his love softens your hardened heart and pushes you to humbly accept corrections, to change and break the strongholds. Being aware of your weaknesses is a major breakthrough!!!
It's a good thing that you are now aware of your weaknesses, because now it helps you know what to avoid or adjust, when to keep shut, when to humbly accept corrections etc. but don't focus on all the things that are wrong with you and allow them push you into depression. There are lots of things that are right about you too, focus on them. Learning to laugh at yourself a lot and your little flaws also helps, don't take yourself too seriously, no one is perfect.
Be authentic, be real, own your story, own your messes, own your mistakes, be proud and unashamed of your trials, they are your victory marks. Don't let the thought of what people will say or have said, put you down. It's so liberating and free when you deliver yourself from caring what people say or wanting their approval, the best feeling ever!!!
The next time you make another mistake, instead of feeling disappointed in yourself, be thankful to God and proud of yourself that you even recognize that you made an actual mistake. And when I said in my previous post that you are actually growing but you may not notice the immediate effect, I meant it because I am a living testimony. There are lots of things that used to be a problem for me and for a long time I thought I wasn't changing but then gradually I realized that there are a few of those things I don't even struggle with anymore, it's not even a temptation at all for me anymore.
E.g. I used to struggle with transferring aggression, If one person makes me angry, I will transfer the aggression on everybody I meet that day and everyone around me that day will know something is wrong with Comfort, it will disrupt, obstruct and disorganize my day but thankfully now, I don't struggle with that anymore. I went somewhere one day and I was laughing, hugging and playing with everyone, then someone asked me "how was your day" probably hoping to hear how I made millions that day because there must be a good reason for my laughter abi? I looked him straight in the eyes and said "I had a HORRIBLE day" and he just stood there shocked at how I don't even look it at all. That's progress y'all!!! I wish the same progress for you as you continue pressing in and resting in the fact that God LOVES you so much.
